Back when I was weighed a ton, I preferred coats and dresses that fit tight around my body so as to prevent myself from looking like a giant balloon, but over the years I have learned to be more comfortably in my own skin and have grown to love oversized items. This winter, I was looking for the perfect oversized cocoon coat, and I wanted one that was unique not only in shape, fit, and color but also in design. Being terribly broke, I could not justify spending hundreds on a coat but also could not settle for less--the story of my life. Anyhow, I then stumbled upon this burgundy cocoon coat from
Stylenanda and decided to get this as my birthday present for myself. The color was not too dark but not too bright either, the embroidered birds were absolutely fabulous, and the oversized fit screamed perfection. I placed my order, then few days later received a call saying that the color red is all sold out and that I could either choose to wait another 2 full weeks or cancel my order. Who are you kidding? Imma wait!
So this baby arrived after what felt like a year. But the wait turned out to be so worth it! Over the weeks, I had grown such high expectations for this coat that I was sure to be let down, only to find it to be so amazing! I hate winter for many reasons and more, but this coat made winter fun because if there is one thing that I love more than nutella and fried chicken is layering.
Inside this coat is a black sweater, a long grey cardigan, and a houndstooth leggings, plus a simple black cashmere scarf and the same old knee-high boots that I've been posting about repeatedly (now you know how much I love it). Just like my skirted dress coat on the previous blog post, this burgundy cocoon coat is by itself so fashionable--it adds such vibrance to my otherwise dull and ordinary black and grey outfit.
