I was looking for an eyeshadow palette that would give me that classic and sophisticated look that I could use on a daily basis. My heart was all set on getting the Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette from Charlotte Tilbury but as a big sucker for burgundy eyeshadows, I became naturally drawn to Charlotte Tilbury's the Vintage Vamp Eyeshadow Palette. I immediately sensed that this eyeshadow palette would be perfect for the fall & winter if all the colors would look the way I imagined it to be--a pretty light pink shimmer to brighten my eyes, a gorgeous pure gold to intensify the look, and two burgundy eyeshadows, one leading more brownish and darker than the other to smoke out the whole look.

And the eyeshadows in this Vintage Vamp palette did deliver as was expected--except for that gold eyeshadow. I expected the gold to be very pigmented, but it was way more glittery, much like the Makeup Forever Diamond Powders or the top right eyeshadow from the Sonia Kashuk's Bronzed Goddess (or Fair and Square) eyeshadow palette. Therefore on those days when I want a more intense look, I do find myself grabbing my MAC eyeshadow in Amber lights. Nonetheless, the gold in this palette does adds a subtle yet noticeable luxurious vibe to a vampy look. I wasn't all that excited for the pale rose eyeshadow in this palette, but I actually find myself gravitating towards it more as I love how it looks applied all over the lid with the darkest eyeshadow above my eyeliner.

I wear a lot of cranberry red eyeshadows, but the reddish eyeshadows in this palette differ from those in my collection in that they apply brownish on my eyelids. It works well when I want to create a more mature look and add some pretty warm depth to my eyes, which is pretty different from my usual vampiry burgundy makeup routine that involves pinkish-red eyeshadows and brownish burgundy eyeliners (or burgundy eyeshadows to blend out the brown/black eyeliner).

This palette is on a pricer side ($52 for 0.18oz) and I do not find any of these colors to be awfully unique (especially the pink and the gold). However, it was one of the perfect holiday splurges that makes a burgundy-crazed girl like me a one helluva happy soul.

What is your favorite burgundy eyeshadow? Please share!

XOXO,
HaeMin

  5. I haven't tried this brand, but have heard it's wonderful. It's a shame the gold was not very pigmented, but the look you created is gorgeous!

  9. Wow, that is an expensive palette. The colors are beautiful though and really suit you, and the packaging is so luxe. But sigh, if it were a little less expensive, it might be splurge-worthy.

  11. You look absolutely gorgeous HaeMin ♥︎ I love the gold shade in the palette and I am glad that I have seen your swatches before purchasing it myself. I have heard amazing things about the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows, but many said that the glitters in the palette is really bad quality, so I have always hesitated every time I wanted a place an order.
