I've only recently started wearing highlighters (mainly Becca Opal), so if few months back someone were to have said to me that I would splurge on a highlighter, I probably would have straight out laughed and called it ridiculous. But here I am, reviewing a wallet thinning whopping $58 Dior illuminating powder. I honestly thought I was done splurging on expensive beauty products and wanted to start focusing on some drugstore products and value sets and palettes, but obviously I underestimated my cosmetic obsession.

For the Spring 2016 Glowing Gardens collection, Dior released two highlighters, one in 001 Glowing Pink and another in 002 Glowing Nude. Because of my warmer complexion, I was initially drawn to Glowing Nude, but the swatches looked pretty dupable (main to Becca Opal) and I wasn't too impressed. Because I do not own any pink highlighters, I decided to give Glowing Pink a try and overall, I am impressed!

In all the photos you see above, I have Glowing Pink swatched on my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose. The only thing I would note about this highlighter (and with many other highlighters) is that it can feel a bit chalky if applied too heavily. I would highly recommend liquid highlighters if you are someone whose skin is more on a drier side or find your foundation to break especially on the areas where you would like to apply your highlighter. As for me, my foundation break a lot right in between my brows, so I am extra careful applying my primers, foundations, and highlighter there to not make my foundation crack AND have shimmery glitters accentuate it even more.

Since I do not own that many highlighters, I do not know of any dupes for this one and honestly, I was sold by the packaging of this product (in other words, I would have kept it even if it sucked lol). Even so, I was really impressed by how pretty this illuminating powder is and absolutely adore the pink glow it gives to my skin.

It wasn't all too difficult for me to track this (NOTHING compared to Guerlain's Holiday 2015 Lipstick to be honest) and I saw this particular one online in Macy's, Nordstrom, and Sephora just within the past week. I did see it come and go and there were periods when it was completely sold out everywhere, so if you do like this, hurry before it's too late!

Would this be something you'd pick up? Please share! :)

  1. I too LOVE Becca Opal and never thought I would even spend THAT much on a highlighter. This shade is super beautiful on you however and it looks soo natural! A pink highlighter isn't something I would consider since I usually like pearly or silver shades, but when you're wearing this, you can't even tell it's pink at all. Love how this looks on you and your eye makeup and lipstick are beautiful too :)

    1. Oh I also ADOOOOOORE Becca Opal!! Haha it's a wonder how some products just make me so vulnerable and spend spend spend. It doesn't look too pink on my warmer skin tone and adds such a perfect amount of glow! Glad you liked it babe! <3

  2. I love this on you!! I'm always looking at Dior highlighters ever since I missed out on Amber Diamond. I still can't believe that was discontinued. Pinky highlighters are one of my favorites though because they give me a slight flush of color as well of brightness.

I also love all of your pictures. The lighting and posing is perfection!

  3. You look so pretty; it makes me want to get that illuminating powder, too! :)
I have an on-and-off relationship with makeup, I guess. Sometimes I would spend a lot on some nicely-packaged palettes, sometimes I would only buy something I really need. These days, I really want to improve my highlighting and contouring techniques, so here I am again, looking for a reason to get that highlighter, lol.
Anyway, thank you so much for this review! Hope you are having a wonderful week.
