Perhaps if I had blue or hazel eyes, I might have been obsessed with green, blue, or purple eyeshadows, but I don't and I'm not. Instead, I gravitate towards pink and reddish eyeshadows and love putting one some vampy makeup. Using red eyeshadows can be scary but it really shouldn't be. So today, I wanted to share my daily makeup which includes MAC Cranberry, a crazy gorgeous red, slightly brownish eyeshadow. ColourPop Drift is a good dupe for MAC Cranberry; however, I find ColourPop eyeshadows to be very pigmented and beautiful when apply using fingers but not when applied with a brush. I like blending out my eyeshadows, especially when it comes to red eyeshadows, so I tend to use Cranberry more often than Drift.

For a natural look, I try not to use any eyeshadows that are too brown or dark. Rather, I go with something that I'd put on my eyelids if I were to go for a smokey, intense makeup. So for this look, I put Laura Mercier Primrose, a shimmery pink eyeshadow all over the lid and on the crease and used MAC Cranberry on the outer V. I also put Laura Mercier Primrose (reviewed here) on the inner corners of my lower lashlines and MAC Cranberry on the outer 2/3 of my lower lashlines.

I also find MAC Cranberry to work flawlessly with MAC Mulch, a brown shimmery eyeshadow with a red undertone. When I want to create a smokey vampy eye makeup, I do the same thing except that I switch out Laura Mercier Primrose for MAC Cranberry on the lid and inner corners, and MAC Mulch in the place of MAC Cranberry.

When I do opt for MAC Cranberry all over the lid, I try to stay away from red lipsticks, but because today's makeup leans more natural and pink, I put on YSL Vernis A Levres #9 Rouge Laque (reviewed here) just on the inner lips and smudged it out.

I hope this post is helpful, and do share your favorite red eyeshadow! I have L'oreal's Glistening Garnet on my wishlist now, and sooner or later it shall be mine...!

XOXO,

HaeMin

  1. I always hear such great things about Cranberry but I haven't gotten it yet. It looks so beautiful and I'm always tempted to get it during winter time every year.

  2. So pretty! The shade suits you perfectly :) I actually do own a very similar shade, although I have no idea of the brand since it's soooo old :D but I liked to use in in the crease during the autumn and pair it with some golden eye shadow :)
    Have a lovely day girlie!
