Even though summer is almost over, I find myself more and more obsessed with bright colors, particularly teal eyeshadows. So for the past month or so, I've been searching for the perfect teal color and the one I fell in love with the most was Make Up For Ever eyeshadow in D-236. I swatched it at Sephora and could not believe how beautiful and super pigmented it was! Soon enough I got this Make Up For Ever Floral Volume 3 Artist Palette because this palette has that very D-236 palette and was $44, which to me was a better decision compared to buying Make Up For Ever's D-236 eyeshadow in single, which would cost $21. This palette has 9 eyeshadows, each eyeshadow containing 0.05oz of product, compared to the full sized pan, which contains 0.07oz of product. After doing the math, this palette ended up being $135 in value.

Am I the only one who loves the logo for Make Up For Ever because I seriously LOVE IT! I love how Make Up Forever products look so professional, with everything being very slim, chic, and simple. Honestly I prefer Make Up For Ever packaging over NARS (recently I have not been liking their packaging at all, especially for their eyeshadow and blush palettes), Urban Decay, and of course, Too Faced, all day every day any day.

It also comes with a booklet that gives you tutorials on 3 makeup looks using the eyeshadows in each column.

There are two colors that convinced me that I needed to keep this palette, and it is the eyeshadow on the left and in the middle of the second row (the teal D-236 and the coral pink I-804). I-804 is actually a blush, but I cannot but use it as an eyeshadow because it is so freaking pretty. It is a peachy pink color with gold shimmers to it, and it does remind me of my favorite eyeshadow of LIFE, Natasha Denona's Golden Rose (and MAC Pigment in Rose). This one is a bit more on a peachy coral side that Golden Rose so it isn't an exact dupe, but I just love those specks of gold in it!

And I couldn't help but take a photo of D-236 which was the one shade that I absolutely fell in love with when I was swatching the entire Make Up For Ever eyeshadows at Sephora.

So here are the swatches of this entire palette. Some people talked about this palette as not being pigmented at all, so I wanted to switch up my swatches a bit and this time applied an eyeshadow primer on the lower half of my arm. Well that ended up not doing much as I have found the pigmentation of most of the colors in this palette to equal on both primer & no-primer side.

I was however disappointed that these did not give me that crazy pigmentation that their singles did. I did have to dig into the eyeshadow to get more product, but once I was able to scrap off that first layer and use it more and more, the pigmentation got better and better.

Also, these eyeshadows blend so nicely! I have the tendency to over blend and sometimes make my eye makeup look as though I have just one single eyeshadow, but these make the job so much easier that they feel like eyeshadow for dummies.

Here's a closeup of these swatches. S-404 is the only color in this entire palette that I couldn't for the life of me build up. It is not at all pigmented but I wasn't all that disappointed because I knew even before purchasing this palette that S-404 would be my least used eyeshadow anyway.

D-236 on the lid, and ME-230 on the inner and outer corners for a halo effect is my favorite way of wearing D-236. I'll post these EOTD in subsequent posts so stay tuned!

ME-512 is also an amazing inner corner and highlight eyeshadow, and it complements my NC25 skin very nicely.  I-804 also looks like a super pigmented version of NARS Orgasm and I love wearing this on the lid (not sure if that's safe though). Combining any of these colors in this palette with I-544 will give you that smoked out sultry effect.

I basically ignored this side of the palette entirely when I purchased this palette as I don't really care for lavenders and pastel shades, but I am willing to try it out! Perhaps using I-918 as an all over the lid shade and I-528 on the inner corners would be really pretty, especially with ME-930 used as a shimmering eyeliner.

Last week I saw this palette go on sale for $34 (originally $44) on Sephora though it is currently sold out. Make sure to check back from time to time to see if it is available as I really think this palette is worth the money! The pigmentation of the eyeshadows in this palette became better and better with more time and use, but at first it really did not feel as soft nor swatched as pigmented as Make Up For Ever's single eyeshadows.

Do you have this palette? What color in this palette do you like the most? Please share!

XOXO,

HaeMin
