Usually, I am not all into cheek & lip products--namely because I personally find them to get dirty easily and therefore think they are unsanitary, and also because for the purpose of retouching makeup, they are not as convenient as whipping out a lipstick. However, here's one palette that I do come back to time to time because I just find it to be very versatile and flattering: It's theBalm How 'Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream Palette ($32). I can see this one being an awesome gift particularly to those starting makeup or those who do not have a ginormous lipstick or blush collection. It is a very good quality palette with awesome pigmentation, and you get to experiment with all these different yet amazing colors!

It has this huge mirror which is always a plus! I love the packaging of theBalm products, and I really like all those big mirrors that come with them!

There are 6 shades in this palette and they range from a pale pink to a true red. This palette does not have any wild colors, so it is perfect for anyone who wants to play safe with their makeup.

Here are the swatches, the top row under natural lighting and the bottom row with a flash.

Caramel looked darker in the pan and initially I thought I would hate it but it is the perfect peach beige lipstick and is my favorite shade in this entire palette. I honestly think that this palette will flatter all skin tones! Plus, you can use whatever color you don't want to use as a lipstick as a blush so it is very versatile in that sense as well

Here are the lip swatches of all six colors. I did not apply any lip balm prior to trying these on, and I naturally have a very super duper dry lips. I was actually very surprised by how Cider applied because usually shades like these are either not at all pigmented or they accentuate the lines on my lips to the point that my lips look like they are peeling oh so horribly. But I was blown away by how Cider applied. I get that in this photo you can still see the lines and all, but trust me when I say my bare lips actually look worse than that.

Crisp is a really metallic shade with golden shimmers to it, and it is GORGEOUS. Actually, all of these shades are freaking gorgeous that I just can't. Candy is the only one that pulls a bit too cool on my skin tone, but I can mix in a little bit of Pie and then I have this perfect baby pink that flatters my skin tone.

Lastly Caramel, can we just talk about that shade for a minute? All of these colors were applied with my ring finger so yes I wasn't going for the most defined lip, and as I said earlier I did not apply my lip balm or anything underneath so my lips can look a bit flakey. But seriously this color is to die for! It reminds me of MAC Mocha lipstick but it is lighter, less beige, more peachy, but just overall fantastic and words can't even describe how much I love this color!!!

And before I go, I just wanted to share with you a look I created with Cider, which was the color that was way too pale to wear on my lips so I originally thought I'd use as a blush only. When paired with a purple eye makeup or any smokey makeup, this color is so so so pretty!

Although I really do not like lip palettes, I love every single shade in this palette and this is so versatile that I actually need a backup for this. There is not a single shade in this palette that I did not like one bit, and for anyone with really dry lips, this one will make your lips look so smooth and hydrated (please ignore all my lip swatches as my lips are CRAZY dry beyond comprehension and swatching 6 lips really makes it worse).

Even though I can't care enough to carry this large palette with me, if theBalm were to create single lipsticks in each of these shades, I will definitely buy them as they are so perfect--granted that they keep the quality consistent. :)

Is this something you'd be interested in? Which color do you like the most? Please share!

XOXO,

HaeMin
